Kosher-style kiddush luncheons, deli buffets and sweet tables — delivered and set up at your synagogue, hotel or private venue. We know San Diego's shuls inside out and we've been feeding mitzvah families for over 20 years.
Elijah's Restaurant, Delicatessen and Catering has been San Diego's go-to for bar and bat mitzvah catering since 2001. Our specialty is the kiddush luncheon — the post-service deli buffet that families host right at the synagogue. We deliver and set up the buffet so everything is ready to serve before your guests walk in from the sanctuary. Our menu is kosher-style (we are not a kosher kitchen and can't guarantee meat and dairy separation), and we regularly cater at Congregation Beth Israel, Temple Solel, Temple Emanu-El, Temple Adat Shalom and Congregation Beth Am, among other Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist synagogues across the county. Call or text (858) 353-5528 to start planning.
All packages are kosher-style, delivered and set up buffet style, ready to serve. Setup, plates, napkins and utensils are included. Delivery is priced by drive time ($19.95 to $74.95), and online orders carry a 3% service fee. Metal chafing dishes and coffee brewers available on request.

We've catered 20+ bar and bat mitzvahs every year since 2001. The process is dialed in, so your family can focus on the simcha — not logistics.

Call or text (858) 353-5528 or request a quote online. Tell us your synagogue (or venue), service date, guest count and budget. We recommend booking 4–8 weeks in advance for Saturday mitzvahs — our spring and fall weekends fill first. We'll hold your date while you finalize details.

We'll walk you through a kiddush luncheon package or a deli buffet built from our menu, plus any add-ons: smoked fish, sweet table, noodle kugel, schnitzel, beverage service. Vegetarian choices are on every menu. We can't make substitutions or allergy accommodations: onion and garlic are in most dishes and everything is prepared in shared pans. All menus are kosher-style; we are not a kosher kitchen.

On the day of the service, we arrive before your guests and set up the full buffet so everything is ready to serve when the sanctuary empties. Plates, napkins and utensils are included. We don't provide servers, linens or rentals, and cleanup is not included.

We've worked with nearly every San Diego synagogue social hall. We know their kitchens, their setup quirks and their timing. Your rabbi and social hall staff won't have to train us — we already know the drill.
Kosher-style deli menu. We are not a kosher kitchen and can't guarantee meat and dairy separation, so we proudly serve Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist families, not Orthodox. We're upfront about this so there are no surprises.

Our lox, corned beef, pastrami, rugelach and babka come from the same kitchen Elijah's has been running since 2001. This is real New York-style deli — the kiddush luncheon your grandparents would recognize, not catering-grade shortcuts.
From La Jolla to Poway, Carmel Valley to Cardiff — we deliver kiddush luncheons and mitzvah spreads throughout San Diego County. Hosting at home or a private venue? No problem. Call or text (858) 353-5528 to confirm your location.
"Elijah's catered our son's bar mitzvah kiddush luncheon at Beth Israel. The deli buffet was stunning, the corned beef and pastrami were out of this world, and they had everything set up perfectly before we walked in from the sanctuary. Multiple guests asked who the caterer was."
"We hosted our daughter's bat mitzvah at Temple Solel and Elijah's handled everything. They coordinated directly with the social hall, set up the lox and bagel spread, refreshed platters throughout lunch. The rugelach and babka were the highlight of the sweet table."
"We've used Elijah's for both of our kids' b'nai mitzvahs at Temple Emanu-El. They know the kitchen, they know the rules about meat and dairy, and the food is genuine New York deli. Stress-free both times — we wouldn't use anyone else."
Yes. We regularly cater bar and bat mitzvahs at Congregation Beth Israel, Temple Solel, Temple Emanu-El, Temple Adat Shalom and Congregation Beth Am, along with many other Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist synagogues throughout San Diego County. We know the social halls, and we deliver, set up the buffet, and leave everything ready for your guests.
Our mitzvah menus are kosher-style, not certified kosher. We are not a kosher kitchen and can't guarantee meat and dairy separation. We proudly serve Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist families. Orthodox and Chabad families who require certified kosher should work with a certified caterer instead. We're upfront about this so there are no surprises.
A kiddush luncheon is the post-service meal held right at the synagogue (or reception hall) after a Shabbat bar or bat mitzvah service. It's typically a deli-style buffet: bagels, lox, tuna salad, whitefish salad, sliced deli meats, salads, fresh fruit and sweet tables. This is Elijah's specialty — it's the format we cater most often, and our Kiddush Luncheon Deli Buffet is our most-requested mitzvah package.
We recommend booking 4–8 weeks in advance for Saturday mitzvahs, especially in spring and fall when our weekends fill up first. For peak season dates (May, June, October, November) or very large parties, 2–3 months is even better. Last-minute inquiries are welcome — call or text (858) 353-5528 and we'll do our best.
