Twenty-Five Years of San Diego Deli
Elijah's opened in 2001 as a traditional New York–style Jewish deli. For twenty-five years we've been serving up overstuffed pastrami sandwiches, bagels and lox, matzo ball soup and the kind of all-day breakfast San Diegans drive across town for. In 2015 we moved to our current home on Clairemont Mesa Blvd — where you'll find us today.
The restaurant is family-owned and operated, and the promise has been simple from the start: keep the menu honest, keep the portions big, and treat every guest like family. Twenty-five years later, that promise is still the job description.
What started as a dine-in deli gradually became something more. Office breakfast orders turned into weekly accounts. Families asked us to feed shiva gatherings on short notice. Biotech companies in Sorrento Valley booked us for lunch meetings. And somewhere along the way, the catering side of Elijah's grew into a full operation, delivering breakfast buffets, box lunches and sandwich platters all over San Diego County.
Today we make more than 3,000 catering deliveries a year.
